CEIBA

Location: Málaga
Year: 2022
Status: Under development
Architecture: Morph
Promoter: Urbania
Built area: 30,581 m²

In a region characterized by a vast park that integrates with the urban fabric and helps shape it, acting as a vital lung for Málaga, any construction of significant size must acknowledge this connection. Architecture’s commitment to societal sustainability—and by extension, to nature—demands it.

Trees are nearly perfect structures: efficient and slender, they enhance the surrounding environment, provide homes, and serve as a shelter to a multitude of inhabitants

Our proposal draws its name from an extraordinary presence deeply rooted in Málaga: the Ceiba. While comparisons between buildings and trees often focus on the trunk, our approach goes much further. We explore the concepts of branches, leaves, bark, and life—elements that define the essence of the Ceiba. These ideas are central to the vision of our project.

A landmark designed to acknowledge its surroundings, where efficient architecture and the natural environment converge to create a slender, living structure that enhances Málaga’s vital horizon
